A cheeky wild monkey hanging on a liana, part of a bestiary of animal figures, molded by Bordallo Pinheiro and now on display at the Bordallo Pinheiro Museum in Lisbon.
Reedited from their museum collection, painted and hand finished in a lustrous glaze from its original mould, this is one of his most intriguing ceramic sculptures. It evokes a feeling of surprise, as the monkey looks ready to snatch his prize! Most certainly inspired by the artist’s trips to exotic locations or perhaps just to the Lisbon Zoo.
