Handmade Knife

This knife originated as a byproduct of the cork industry in Portugal’s southern region, Alentejo.

The knife’s blade is made from recycling the cleavers used to extract and work the cork oak trees dotting the vast semi-arid plains of this region. Once the cleaver is worn out and no longer suitable for its purpose, the remaining blade’s edge is transformed into a small kitchen knife – nothing is wasted. The handle is made of olive wood, also characteristic of this region.

When you buy a pair you get the original hand wrapping from this family run manufacturer, now in its fourth generation. Small, practical and very easy to sharpen.

Dimensions (approx.):
Length – 185 mm
Blade – 85 mm
