Crocodile toothpick holder

A mighty crocodile looking as it might slink off into the mire. Glazed and hand painted in beautiful traditional colours.

In medieval Portugal, a cottage industry developed to produce straightforward handmade toothpicks. These splints of orange wood, locally available pine, gained a reputation for being the best in the world and toothpicks handmade in the Portuguese tradition were common before being replaced by mass-produced American versions.
